ABOUT OUR NETWORK

Film Neighbor Network (FNN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating new filmmakers through in-person classes, online videos, and networking events free of charge.

Many professional filmmaking classes cost hundreds of dollars to attend, making it difficult to access hands-on experience with film equipment. It can seem impossible to connect with industry professionals after cold calls and emails don’t get returned, which can be very discouraging for aspiring filmmakers. Then there’s the struggle of finding a job in the film and television industry, which usually isn’t as simple as a Google or LinkedIn search.

That’s where Film Neighbor Network comes in.

FNN offers free workshops with industry professionals, giving participants the opportunity to work with top-tier equipment, including cameras and accessories, grip and lighting gear, and walkie talkies. Events like Film Neighbor Network(ing) encourage the community to come together to watch a project that was locally made and connect with local creatives, industry professionals, and creative organizations. FNN’s email list has over 375 people signed up to receive notifications when a job opportunity opens up, and when film-related events are happening in the community.

Be the first to know about our upcoming events, classes and work opportunities by subscribing to our email list. The Film Neighbor Network is free of charge and welcoming to all!

NEW TO THE NETWORK?

Our YouTube channel goes into detail about different departments and highlights skills, tricks of the trade, and personal experiences that help demystify positions in the film industry.

Subscribe below to keep up with our biweekly video releases and explore our archives to learn from industry professionals in WNY and beyond.

BECOME A SUPPORTER!

Through our previous training program, many participants went on to work for professional commercial sets for VISA, several Hallmark films, and more. People that applied to job opportunities via the FNN email list are currently working as film and television industry professionals in both Buffalo and New York City. All it takes is one training program, one networking event, or access to what are usually inaccessible job postings to set someone up for success.
